New Foundation of Hope

On Saturday, November 19th, the Bohne Foundation supported the New Foundation of Hope’s mission to provide a turkey and ham dinner to those less fortunate for the Thanksgiving holiday. As a result of the Bohne Foundation’s support, there were a line of people outside of New Foundation of hope before the event even began.

New Foundation of Hope gave out over 250 turkeys and hams to two homeless shelters that they sponsor – people in the Auburn Gresham, Wrightwood and Englewood communities.

On Sunday, December 20, 2015, New Foundation of Hope hosted their annual Christmas dinner and concert. The Bohne Foundation attended this event and distributed gift cards for Christmas to the organization’s children.

On Saturday, November 21, 2015, the Bohne Foundation participated in the New Foundation of Hope’s annual turkey and ham giveaway. Those that are less fortunate this Thanksgiving holiday received a turkey and ham to share with their families. The Bohne Foundation donated $2,500 dollars to help cover the cost of these hams and turkeys.

On Thursday, August 13, 2015 instead of BJ Bohne, founder of the Bohne Foundation, spending the morning doing something for himself on his birthday, he spent his time with his two daughters Kailey, age 10 and Willadene, age 6, presenting a check for $2,500 to the New Foundation of Hope in Chicago to assist in keeping kids off the street. B.J.’s example of generosity is something he wants to teach his daughters as he feels blessed for all of the good fortunes throughout his life.

New Foundation of Hope in Chicago, Illinois, is a youth organization devoted to providing community-building resources. Our executive director, Ron Mason, has been in the nonprofit industry for more than 30 years. Our assistant director, Robbin Harris, has worked on the PTA and with underprivileged youth for more than 30 years. Our amazing directors have dedicated their careers to helping underprivileged kids and dual-founded New Foundation of Hope in 2002.

Below is a letter that was written to B.J. from the Executive Director of the New Foundation of Hope to thank B.J. for his donation.

Good morning BJ Bohne,

On behalf of myself, Rondell, the New Foundation of Hope Staff and Summer Camp Participants, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your visit and generous contribution.

During our end of the day reflection hour, the summer camp participants highlighted how they enjoyed your talented and artistic daughters.  It is our desire to have them back soon.  In fact, we are planning a summer back to school event, which we would be more than elated to have you and your family as our honored guest.

The children were so impressed with the dancing, singing, and especially the artwork.  Utilizing the model that was drawn for them, our students completed fifty cards to be distributed with the clothing, for the “Gift of Giving” project.

It is because of individuals like you and your family that at-risk inner city youth, have an opportunity to view and experience life very different from the life spoils we see so often in today’s media. Quality of life for them can be beyond positive, when someone cares. I will be sending you an updated newsletter so that you can share in our success stories.

Again, we are forever grateful and blessed to have an addition to our family.  Thank you for helping us reach one child at a time!

With sincere regards,

Ronald Mason

Executive Director
